Not only did the world not end on December 31, 1999, but the subsequent 19 years were also extremely important. Perhaps most intriguing about this era is the fact that innovations developed in earlier decades began to gain traction in the modern era.

Over the past few months, we've looked back at each decade's most important innovations and discussed how they shaped the globe and our daily lives.

As you probably anticipated, today we are going to continue that tradition and take a brief look at some of the inventions from the 21st century.
